Debian live boot screen

Debian live

Debian live is a flavour of the Debian Linux distribution, which I am currently interested in.

It all started as the building of a customized "rescue disk" usb key of mine. Here is the package list.

Linux Azur

I am a member of the Linux Azur association, and I happen to know the president quiet well. When he proposed me to present what I had learned on debian live, I accepted immediately.

You can find all presentation documents in the files/ folder:

Note that the slides are in French. You will also find nearby some scripts, which can be of use when fiddling on the topic.

The original instructions are here, in French.

JM2L 2008

We did it again! I did a workshop on 'debian live' during the Journée méditérranéenne du logiciel libre. To do so, I prepared some slides as well as a 'debian live' distro to boot all machines and allow to produce... a 'debian live'! And it worked: people were able to boot the PC, build a 'debian live' with lh_config / lh_build and simulate with qemu.

Also, I prepared another 'debian live' distro flavor to support other workshops on gimp and openoffice.org.

All in all, the event was a success!

You can find all presentation documents in the jm2l2008/ folder:

Note that the slides are in French.

You will also find nearby two archives containing scripts and files (such as nice customized artworks :), which were used to build two flavours of usb keys:

  • Archive for 'stable' flavor: stable.tar.gz. Gnome desktop based on the 'gnome' list, with 'debian live' tools included (cdebootstrap, live-helper).
  • The slides unstable-experimental.tar.gz. Also based on the 'gnome' list, with gimp included as well as openoffice.org v3.0.1 from experimental!

Those documents are also free. Use and modify at will (license).
